 SHE DWELT AMONG THE UNTRODDEN WAYS 

SUMMARY

          Lucy lived among 'the untrodden ways' i.e. the unfrequented places near the source of river Dove. She was an unmarried girl. There was none to praise her beauty. There were very few to love her.

         A violet, a sweet smelling blueish flower, grows by a stone covered with moss. It is not clearly noticed. Lucy is compared to a violet. A star is very beautiful in the sky, when it shines alone in the sky. Lucy is compared to such a star.

        She lived a solitary life. She lived unknown. Few persons could know her when she died. Now she is in her grave. It was a great difference to the poet.
